SAYAMA works aim to develop a 20-26L UL backpack that could be easily used for hiking after Fast Backpack, which specializes in fast packing.
The new backpack combine the good old UL garage design with the innovative ideas and technology of SAYAMA works which could be able to provide new value to the market.
With that in mind, the brand founder Sayama San’s goal became striking the right balance among lightweight design, cost reduction, eliminating unnecessary parts and loops, and multi-functionality.
From there, Sayama San created the pattern from scratch, reducing the number of fabrics as much as possible while maintaining its versatility. The design has also been redesigned to look simple and beautiful. Of course, Sayama San have also thoroughly incorporated the lightweight technology based on the idea of reversal, which cultivated with race backpacks from TJAR2018 to TJAR2024.
Starting in 2026, a LITTLEAID® tag has been added to the shoulder harness of the NICEDAY V2. The LITTLEAID® tag serves as proof that it incorporates our patented ideas.
Specifications:
1.Roll top:
Uses 15 mm buckles attached to both top sides, which twist and fasten at the center. For better or worse, this specification evokes classic American UL garage brand designs. The top buckle that pulls the roll-top section together from front to back supports the same 15 mm webbing as the sides. Additionally, it features a drawcord cinch opening, same as the Fast V4. Starting with V2, the roll-top fabric has been upgraded to the same highly durable 70D ripstop as the Fast V4, and all colors have been unified to black to make dirt less noticeable.
2. Grab Loop:
Positioned toward the front side so it doesn't rub against or interfere with your neck.
3. Main Body Front Panel:
Basically made from a single sheet of moderately stiff fabric that maintains its shape. The high-capacity front pocket placed on top uses hard power mesh. While previous Fast front pockets consisted of two pieces (the cinch opening and the mesh section), we worked closely with the factory to condense it into a single piece, finishing it as a gusseted pocket.
4. Front Panel Right Side Zipper:
Starting from V2, a direct-access zipper (YKK Water-R No. 5) was added to allow direct access into the main compartment. It features dual silver sliders for high visibility. Redesigned based on a custom NICEDAY created for Mr. Uchida (a TJAR 2020 competitor) aiming to compete in TJAR. The NICEDAY Origin shares this exact same specification.
5. Main Body Side Panels:
Made from a single fabric panel like the front, with side pockets sharing the same structure as the main front pocket. Each side pocket is sized to easily fit two 500ml plastic bottles or a 1L Nalgene bottle with room to spare. The elastic bungee cord used to cinch the top opening forms a loop that can be hooked over a drink bottle's cap to prevent it from falling out.
6. Shoulder Harness:
Designed to fit user heights ranging from 150 cm to 175 cm. The fundamental streamlined design and specs are identical to the Fast. The LITTLEAID® system remains intact as well. The total shoulder strap length is 43 cm. Our hit product line, the Dustin Holder series, fits like a charm ("Cinderella fit").

Includes an ITW Nexus whistle buckle. Features an elastic stretch mechanism so it doesn't restrict chest movement while breathing.
8. Back Panel:
The Fast used an internal pocket design to insert the Short Sleeper Mat inside. However, building on feedback from TJAR 2022 finishers, an external pocket proved more convenient for quick removal and preserved main compartment volume. Designed for general hikers, a tri-folded Short Sleeper Mat (43 cm H × 78 cm W × 5 mm D) slides directly into the top of the outer back pocket.
9. Upper Inner Back Loops:
By clipping the CRAZY shoulder straps into the two loops located on the upper inside of the back panel, it functions as a back pouch. (The reference photo shows it docked to the Fast V4).
10. Waist Belt:
Inherits the same specs as the Fast. Features 4 attachment loops for Slick Clips so waist attachments can be docked.
11. Main Compartment:
Designed with a straightforward cylindrical shape for hassle-free packing and gear retrieval. Because it has fewer seams than the Fast, water entry is reduced (though it is deliberately not fully waterproof, keeping Japan's climate in mind).
12. Bottom Panel:
Features a rounded bottom that gradually tapers outward toward the top. As a result, the load sits against your upper/mid back rather than resting on your lower back/hips, providing what we proudly consider the best carrying comfort. From V2 onward, all bottom panels are unified in black to minimize visible dirt.
13. Bungee Cords:
Re-engineered using SAYAMA works' proprietary front and side pocket mechanisms to pull the backpack even closer to the wearer's body. If you look at the structure in person, you'll see how this unconventional thinking shines. Thanks to carefully calculated loop placement, attachment cords (Triangle Lock-on System) are included to securely dock roll mats or trekking poles. Two cord-lock mechanisms are located on both upper sides of the front panel to fix ice axe shafts (spike end) or the tops of trekking poles.
